Art Forms Proliferate At Holmes Body Shop

A new art gallery/exhibit area has been completed in the redesigned greater lobby of the corporate offices of Holmes Body Shop at 1095 E. Colorado Boulevard, Pasadena. To introduce this facility, which will be available to all artist groups in the community, the first exhibit is a Children's Art Exhibit highlighting the art of third and fourth grade students in the Pasadena Unified School district. It opened March 1.

Artist Tracy Holmes, (Mrs. Tom Holmes) whose enthusiasm and talent spearheaded the establishment of the gallery, has accepted chairmanship of the committee to develop and organize The Friends of the Children's Center for the Arts and for the fund raising event scheduled for June 9, 1996, to be held at the Holmes gallery.

Opportunities for Youth

The Pasadena Arts Council aim is to provide grade school children in Pasadena with the opportunity to experience and participate in a variety of art instruction such as painting, drawing, sculpting, dance and drama.

In the Holmes Gallery, huge wall hangings depicting children's stories decorate the high walls. Colorful drawings and individual paintings are affixed to tall kiosks and models, mostly small, align the walls.

The gallery is open from 7:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m., Monday through Friday and from 7:00 a.m. to noon on Saturdays. The Holmes Body Shop collision repairs business is being conducted without interruption, affording the personnel of the shop with colorful surroundings as they repair automobile bodies which become an art form of their own!
