On October 12, Holmes Gallery, located in Holmes Body Shop in Pasadena, Calif., hosted the opening reception of the City of Painters group art exhibit.

"It was wonderful - one of the best shows we've had all year," says Tracy Holmes.

A jazz string quartet played as patrons viewed the artwork, created by local artists and depicting scenes from Pasadena and the surrounding area.

Holmes Gallery is a nonprofit art gallery, dedicated to raising money for art organizations and schools. Twenty percent of the money raised from the sale of the artwork was donated to the Children's Center for the Arts, an old high school where third and fourth grade students are bussed for education in art, dance, and drama.

As a result of sales from the opening of the exhibition, $940 has been donated to the Children's Center. However, since the paintings will remain on display through December, Tracy is certain that figure will rise.
