| PASADENA- unique afternoon is being planned for families interested in exploring the various visual and performing arts opportunities available for children. "A Creative Collision - Children Meet the Arts," is scheduled for Sunday, June 9 from noon to 5 p.m. at the Holmes Body Shop, 1095 E. Colorado Blvd., Pasadena, a location which sparked the reference to 'collision.' The benefit chairman is Tracy Holmes. She and her husband, Tom, wanted to give something back to the community that has been so supportive of their businesses. All proceeds from the day will bolster funds needed to run classes at the Children's Center for the Arts which serves children of the Pasadena Unified School District, enhancing and expanding on elementary education studies on the arts. Admission to the event is free and featured will be celebrity guests, continuous entertainment of music and dance, contests, art exhibits, workshops, refreshments, raffle prizes and a silent auction of fine art. Children will have a hands-on opportunity to try applying the theatrical make-up and creating special effects and computer animation. |
Workshops will be run by professionals in their respective fields and will offer a glimpse into possible careers in the arts. There will be nominal charges for refreshments and some activities. For information, call the Pasadena Arts Council office at 795-0825. |
