Award-winning artists lean Summers, Paulette Lee, Misha Hollingsworth and Marijane Beckman Hebert have captured the essence of Pasadena through their paintings, which are on view through Dec. 31 in an exhibition entitled "Pasadena: City Of The Painters" at the Holmes Gallery, Holmes Body Shop, 1095 E. Colorado Blvd., Pasadena, in a restored historical building originally built in 1926 for a Dodge car dealership.

All of the exhibiting artists are members of the San Gabriel Fine Arts Association.
Lee is a California native and studied fine art at Mission Renaissance and Art Center College of Design. A member of the Oil Painters of America, she paints with simplicity and passion. Born on the Eastern shore of the Chesapeake Bay in Maryland, Hollingsworth has a bachelor's degree in art history from California State University at Northridge. Her art employs rich colors and strong contrasts of light and shade.

She began her art training in Dallas and later graduated from the University of California at Berkeley. A member of the Colored Pencil Society of America and Oil Painters of America, her work shows her fascination with the energy and spirit of light and color.

Also a member of Oil Painters of America is Hebert, who grew up in Northwest lowa. She studied painting at Associates in Art. There is a spiritual quality and inner strength in her paintings.

Holmes, a major supporter of the local art community, has announced that 20 percent of all art sold during the exhibition will be donated to the Children's Center for the Arts of the Pasadena Arts Council. "City Of The Painters" exhibition may be viewed Monday through Friday from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. and Saturdays from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. For information, call 626-795-6447
