Tom and Tracy Holmes, longtime supporters of the arts in Pasadena, have created the perfect venue for emerging artists to exhibit their work. The historic building housing the corporate headquarters and body shop is one of Pasadena's most magnificent examples of Italian Renaissance inspired architecture. Designed by architects Cyril Bennett and Fitch Haskell, it was built in 1927 for the James H. Kindel Dodge Dealership. Tracy Holmes, an artist well known for her NASCAR series, not only provides other artists the opportunity to exhibit their work but also, with husband Tom, uses the exhibitions to raise money for the Children's Center for the Arts. The Children's Center is a school day art program designed to expand classroom curriculum. in cooperation with Pasadena Unified elementary schools. The curriculum focuses on enhancing a child's visual and performing arts experiences, helping to restore the arts to their rightful place in the educational spectrum. For the past three years. Paulette Lee, a California Art Club advisory board member and director of non-gallery exhibitions, has volunteered to curate the Holmes Art Exhibitions. An artist member of the California Art Club, she exhibits her own work at Tirage Gallery in Pasadena. For the Holmes Body Shop Exhibition, participating CAC artists include Jeff Angell, John Brassy Alfonso Colochio, Bridget Duffy, Linda DuPas, Mark Fenton, Patrick Harper, Marijane Hebert, Misha Hollingsworth. Elaine Kaniewski, Paulette Lee, Frank Lennartz, Margot Lennartz, Jean Summers Osher, Ruby Spaid, Dick Tarkington. Vicki Thomas and Leonard Vogel. |
